Nationwide Machines Overcome Access Challenges

A Nationwide scissor and boom lift on site durinbg construction at the Dixons call centre.

Scissor and boom lifts from Nationwide Access helped overcome several
access challenges for contractors MAS Architectural Ltd during work on a new Dixons call centre in Sheffield.

Rough terrain, self-levelling 9250 scissors enabled MAS Architectural Ltd to work on uneven ground whilst installing aluminium window modules in the three-storey call centre.

Contracts director Tim Wheeler said: "The self-levelling features of the scissors were a big advantage because the ground was rough during the initial stages of the call centre's construction. The 9250 scissors also had extending decks which gave us a greater working area and reduced the number of times the machines needed to be moved."

With a working height of 17.2 metres, the 9250's extending decks gave a total platform length of 7.3m.

As well as hiring scissors from the Nationwide fleet, MAS Architectural also hired a 60/34 articulating boom lift so that they could easily manoeuvre around a projecting steel structure which formed part of a solar shading installation. The boom has a working height of 20.3m and an outreach of 10.4m.
