Thirty Nationwide Machines At New Honda Car Plant.

Nationwide booms and scissor lifts working on new car plant for Hona in swindon

Nationwide booms and scissor lifts are working on the contruction of a new car plant for Honda in Swindon.

Nationwide booms and scissor lifts are on long term hire to NG Bailey & Co and sub contractors working on the construction of a new car plant for Honda in Swindon.

A total of 30 Nationwide powered access units are on site, meeting a wide range of needs - for example, narrow width Z30/20N booms have a closed width of only 1.2m, enabling them to operate in areas where space is restricted. A double extending deck on the LX50 scissor provides additional working areas for men and materials, and the four-wheel-drive option on the XRT 33 scissor allows the machine to be manoeuvred over uneven ground.

NG Bailey & Co, one of the UKšs largest independent building services contractors, is using the machines for installing high level lighting, power, ductwork, pipework, and mechanical services.

Many of the Nationwide units are providing high level access above a series of concrete pits constructed as part of Hondašs production lines. Whilst some units are being lowered into the pits, articulating booms are also being widely used to reach out and over the pits from ground level.

Sited next to Hondašs existing Swindon factory and due for completion in summer 2001, the new factory is set to become one of Europešs most modern car plants. At 335 metres long by 165 metres wide, it is the size of four football pitches.
