Anker Cleaning Services have called upon one of the largest boom lifts in the Nationwide fleet to help them keep Birmingham International Airport spick and span.

With a working height of 27.9 metres, the S85 boom can reach all high level areas of the airport - enabling two Anker operatives to clean thousands of windows and signage, in areas such as the control tower and the Arrivals and Departure Halls.

Anker Cleaning Services owner Anthony Kearns said: "We are on site at the airport every two months for about a week. We don¹t need the boom's 85 foot reach for every cleaning task, but by hiring this machine we know we can get all the cleaning done without having to change from one size of machine to another."

"The buildings are relatively close so a self-propelled machine is a very cost-effective option. The outreach that a larger machine gives you is also helpful because it enables you to easily reach across walkways and other obstacles," he added.

The Anker employee who operates the S85 boom was trained by Nationwide at its Coventry depot.
