Forget
Concorde - the quickest way to reach Australia is by travelling
on
this Nationwide Access boom lift. At least thatıs the case
for getting to
the Australia shown on a giant representation of Planet
Earth which is on display in the Millennium Dome!
The
boom was one of 18 Nationwide Access boom and scissor lifts
brought in to help with fitting out, testing and inspection
work on the exhibits at the
Millennium Dome.
Most
were hired by the Millennium Dome Experience Company who
then made them available to contractors, but six were also
hired directly by N G Bailey & Co Ltd.
The
Nationwide Access machines included narrow width models
for gaining access in areas where space was restricted and
bi-fuel units which could switch from diesel power for external
work to battery power for fume free operation inside the
Dome.
At
one stage, Nationwide Access also supplied a 72 metre Skylift
- the highest available in Europe - to provide easy access
to the highest points of the Dome.
