One
of the new Nationwide off-road Skylifts in action.
|
Nationwide
has added four new off-road, rough terrain Skylift units
to its powered access fleet in an investment of £260,000.
The truck-mounted Skylifts have a King GSR 159TL boom mounted
on a special Unimog chassis cab to enable them to operate
in terrain which would otherwise be inaccessible.
Key target sectors for the new Skylifts will be utilities
for work such as pylon maintenance, telecommunications for
line of sight and maintenance operations, and the film and
broadcasting industry for outside location work.
Each Skylift unit has a working height of 15.2m, a maximum
outreach of 7.5m and a safe working load of 200kg.
A semi-automatic inflate/deflate tyre system gives greatly
improved traction control on soft ground, reducing the possibility
of damage and helping to keep the machine on the move. If
one of the Skylift units were to become stuck in extreme
circumstances, an on-board self-recovery winch enables it
to be quickly freed.
The four new machines will be located in Nationwide Skylift
depots at St Albans, Exeter, Newcastle and Manchester.
