Compare
the size of Nationwide's powered access fleet with the next
largest UK hire fleet operator and the competition is, quite
literally, cut in half. Today, Nationwide's fleet is more
than twice the size of its nearest UK competitor, with scissor
lifts being one of the company's most popular powered access
solutions.
Currently
there are around 50 scissor lift options on offer from Nationwide,
all of which can be accessed through any of the company's
50-plus depots that are spread the length and breadth of
the country. According to Nationwide, the company has a
scissor lift for every task. They provide safe and reliable
vertical access platforms for working heights between six
metres and 26 metres, with safe working load capacities
of up to 1,000kg. Three power options are available; diesel,
which is popular for external use, electric, for indoor
use where emissions are unacceptable, and bi-powered.
Many
models in the Nationwide scissor lift range incorporate
special features. The electric powered ten metre working
height UpRight X26 and the 11.75 metre working height X32
platforms, for example, share an exceptional turning radius
and offer the benefit of roll out deck platforms that extend
the working area.
At
the other end of the scale, the diesel powered 17.2 metre
working height 9250 scissor lift is equipped with self-levelling
capabilities - a major advantage over less sophisticated
machines when the ground you are working on is either coarse
or uneven. Extending decks are also a feature of the 9250,
resulting in an increased platform length of 7.3 metres,
creating a larger working area and reducing the need to
move the machine so frequently.
No
less impressive are the four-wheel drive Liftlux 22 metre
and 26 metre working height scissor lifts. They offer a
payload of 1,000kg when fully extended, plus they incorporate
an automatic levelling feature for use on rough terrain.
All
of Nationwide's scissor lifts are operator controlled via
a panel located on the work platform and, while fully qualified
operators can be supplied by the company, Nationwide also
runs fast-track one to three day training schemes that are
recognised by both the CITB [Construction Industry Training
Board] and the IPAF [International Powered Access Federation].
The company also offers Power Guard, a damage waiver package
that offers either Gold or Platinum protection while the
Nationwide equipment is on hire.
Nationwide
is part of the publicly-quoted Lavendon Group Plc and is
headquartered in Lutterworth, Leicestershire. The Group
is also a major player in the European powered access market,
trading under the name Zooom in Germany, France, Spain,
Austria and Switzerland.
