The
country's largest powered access rental equipment company,
Nationwide, says that the JLG M600J and JLG M800AJ articulating
booms are among the most popular models in its UK fleet. The
M600J is the world's first 18-metre, electrically operated,
articulated boom, while the 24-metre M800AJ is its diesel-powered
big brother.
The M600J is a bi-energy machine that can be either electric
or diesel powered. In fact it is, says Nationwide, the only
18-metre platform height boom machine that is suitable for
indoor use as it gives off no emissions when running on electric
power. The jibs on both machines present almost vertical up
and over clearance, enabling even greater manoeuvrability
than standard articulated machines. Furthermore, at 15.7 metres
the diesel powered M800AJ has an extra 3.7 metre outreach
than the M600J.
The
M600J also has special features that include an onboard diesel
generator, which offers the bonus of charging the power cell
twice as quickly as other onboard chargers, greatly reducing
the unit's cycle time. The generator also enables continuous
use outside, as it automatically charges the power cell when
levels become low. Another feature is the non-marking tyres,
ensuring that the M600J is sympathetic to internal floors,
which, according to Nationwide, significantly adds to its
versatility.
Both units include automatic traction control, optional oscillating
axles and four-wheel drive, providing exceptional performance
on just about any surface. They also have a safe working load
of 230kg and an articulating caged platform. This particular
feature gives the operator improved access by manipulating
the cage into a variety of positions in relation to the boom.
Nationwide
