Metal roofing and cladding specialist, C A Group Ltd, teamed-up with Britain's leading powered access company, Nationwide, on the Ridgeway Trading Estate redevelopment in west London. The company, which specialises in commercial and industrial work, had 14 units on hire from Nationwide's London West Depot.

The contract called for both scissor lift platforms and articulated and telescopic boom units that were individually recommended by Nationwide when C A Group took advantage of the company's free site survey service. This ensured that the most appropriate and efficient machines are used at each stage of the project. Their main tasks were in relation to the positioning and fixing of aluminium cladding, glazing, signage and fire protection to the new building.

This was not the first time that C A Group had turned to Nationwide. It had supplied powered access solutions to the company, one of the country's largest roofing contractors, on a number of similarly complex projects. So much so, that C A Group now has a national agreement with Nationwide to meet all of its powered access needs.

Commenting on this latest contract, Nationwide's London West depot manager Doug Johnson says: " C A Group is only too aware of the contribution that powered access can make to site efficiency and safety, and hence to the businesses' bottom-line performance." He continues: "The versatility of our machines, their reliability and their ready availability from more than 50 ISO 9002 accredited depots across the UK were major factors in Nationwide's favour."

He concludes: "Nationwide currently has more than 6,000 articulating and telescopic booms, scissor lifts and truck mounted Skylift booms, double the number of its nearest competitor."

Nationwide is part of the publicly-quoted Lavendon Group Plc and is headquartered in Lutterworth, Leicestershire. The Group is also a major player in the European powered access market, trading under the name Zooom in Germany, France, Spain and Austria.
