Powered access equipment from Nationwide (Access) was chosen to help install cladding on a revolutionary new building on the Hornbeam Park business development in Harrogate, Yorkshire.
Rising 40 m high, The Inspire is a modern steel-and-glass pyramid comprising 1,600mē of office space on four floors set in a 1.2 acre site.
Cladding this modern pyramid was the job of curtain-walling specialist SLW Architectural Aluminium. A vital element in the cladding contract was the powered access.
Nationwide supplied a variety of scissor lifts and boom-lifts to help SLW install the high-tech silicone-sealed glass and aluminium curtain walling system. The tallest of the machines, a 120 ft boom lift, was essential to provide the extreme outreach necessary to access the apex of the glass-and-steel pyramid building.
"We chose Nationwide for this project because we know we'll get good, well maintained machines and first-rate service", says SLW contracts manager Charlie Williams. "We use a lot of powered access, and Nationwide is one of our three preferred suppliers", he adds.
The main contractor on the project was local firm Houseman & Falshaw and the client was Hornbeam Park Developments.
