Hugh Cole is the new managing director of Nationwide Access - the UK's leading powered access rental firm.
Hugh has many years' experience in the rental industry, having joined Avis Rent a Car in 1993. He rose to become head of regional operations before leaving Avis in 2001 to join the Volkswagen-owned Europcar UK where he was operations and franchise director.
Hugh joins Nationwide Access following the company's re-structuring operation last year. This involved consolidating Nationwide Access's rental operations into regional centres thereby improving efficiency and consistency of service.
As director of operations at Europcar, Hugh led a programme of cultural change that, after nine years of consecutive losses, halved projected losses in 2001 and achieved a £2 million profit in 2002.

Hugh is a chartered engineer and has an MBA from Cranfield School of Management. These days he is a visiting lecturer at Cranfield on customer service.
