Demand for powered access inside industrial buildings has increased in recent months as employers wake up to the introduction of the Work at Height Regulations later this year.
They are turning to powered access as a safer alternative to their traditional methods, such as ladders, steps and scaffolds. Experience shows that once customers have used powered access the time and cost benefits quickly become apparent and they tend to return to use it again and again.
Nationwide Access is responding to this growing demand by re-assessing and improving the service that is traditionally offered by the industry. This is being done on a number of fronts.
Because of their low noise levels and lack of exhaust emissions, electric access machines are often the preferred choice for indoor applications. Nationwide is therefore undertaking a review of battery charging programmes to increase the working time and reliability of these machines. This will have a positive impact benefit for our clients, for whom completing a job within a restricted time window is often critical.
Diesel machines, on the other hand, have often been restricted to outside use because of the health and safety issues associated with exhaust fumes. Here too, Nationwide has responded by developing an exhaust filter that allows extended use of diesel machines inside without any health and safety concerns. Machines fitted with these filters are already proving very popular with our customers.
Another key customer requirement is the ability to work at night. Work conducted overnight enables minimal maintenance downtime. Recognising this, we have developed a truck network that operates throughout the night and allows delivery and collection of powered access equipment at our customers' convenience.
Nationwide is confident that the demand for powered access within the industrial sector will continue to grow and are focusing on improving the services offered to this important market.
