Powered access specialist Nationwide Access has provided a G40 machine to the Heritage Lottery Fund as part of a campaign to preserve the North Carr lightship, one of the treasures of Dundee's maritime heritage.
After years spent rapidly decaying in Victoria Dock, the North Carr lightship's will undergo work such as stripping, priming and painting all vulnerable metalwork above the waterline, and replacing certain fixtures such as hatch covers. The planned work will restore and help to preserve the vessel's exterior fabric and inhibit further decay.
The G40 machine which has an outreach span of 9.64m will provide the Heritage Lottery Fund workers access to the mast to undertake painting work.
