Nationwide Access, the UK's largest supplier of powered access equipment, is working at Manchester United Football Club to carry out a major refurbishment which will add around 8,000 extra seats to the Old Trafford ground.
Nationwide's powered access equipment, on hire to Principal Contractor Laing O'Rourke, is supporting the construction of two new quadrant infill structures at the stadium, which are being built to accommodate extra seating and executive facilities. A fleet of cherry pickers are in-situ outside the ground to assist with the erection of the corner unit steelwork.
The company also supplied four Genie S85 boom lifts to the ground to aid fellow contractors Quigley Crane Hire and Fullflow Drainage in the syphonic drainage of water from the roof of the new stand.
Along with the boom lifts, Nationwide Access supplied two pipe cradles to fit inside the baskets of the booms. These cradles clamp the drainage pipes and assist with their easy installation. Nationwide is the only company in the UK to hire out pipe cradles, which provide a safe and fast solution and avoid the need for manual lifting.
David Roebuck, Business Director at Nationwide Access, said: "We are delighted to be working with Laing O'Rourke at Old Trafford on such a prestigious project. Our expertise in the powered access market and the variety of equipment we have available have been key elements of winning this business."
